Spotify Restores Service After Brief Outage
  • PublishedSeptember 30, 2024

The popular music streaming service Spotify experienced a temporary outage, leaving thousands of users without access to their favorite tunes and podcasts, the Associated Press reports.

On Sunday, more than 40,000 users reported issues with the platform on downdetector.com, a website where people can report problems with apps and services. Spotify acknowledged the disruption.

“We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!” the company posted on X (formally Twitter).

The outage led to complaints from users whose workout routines and party plans were interrupted. One user mentioned they were trying to stream a playlist at a child’s birthday party when the service went down.

Approximately an hour after the initial reports, Spotify announced that service had been restored, and the app was functioning normally.

Spotify, which remains the largest music streaming platform with over 626 million users, including 246 million subscribers as of 2023, continues to be a vital service for millions of listeners worldwide.
