Explosions Reported in Southern Beirut Suburb Amid Rising Tensions
At least two explosions were heard in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Wednesday, according to Reuters witnesses and local media reports.
The Dahiyeh area, a known Hezbollah stronghold, was the site of these blasts, although details about the cause or damage are not yet clear.
The incident occurred just a day after a significant attack on Hezbollah’s communications network. Thousands of electronic pagers used by the armed group exploded across Lebanon on Tuesday, an event Hezbollah attributed to an Israeli operation. The blast caused widespread injuries and fatalities, overwhelming local hospitals.
Hezbollah, which has been engaged in military operations against Israel in support of Gaza, vowed to continue its actions, stating the attack on its network would not deter its efforts. While Israel has not confirmed involvement in the pager explosions, experts suggest it was a sophisticated and preplanned operation.
