Trump Blames Biden, Harris for Alleged Violence Rhetoric Towards Him in Wake of Apparent Assassination Attempt

Former President Donald Trump has accused President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of inciting violence against him, claiming their rhetoric inspired a recent apparent assassination attempt, The Associated Press reports.

The incident occurred Sunday in Florida, where a 58-year-old man was apprehended near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. Authorities are still investigating the individual’s motives.

“Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at,” Trump told Fox News Digital, adding that he is the “one who is going to save the country” while Biden and Harris are “destroying it.”

Trump’s initial response to an assassination attempt during a July rally in Pennsylvania included a call for national unity.

President Biden has condemned the apparent assassination attempt and called for an end to political violence. He and Trump reportedly discussed the matter on Monday, with Trump describing the conversation as positive.

With the election just 50 days away, this latest incident further underscores the highly polarized political landscape.
