Taylor Swift Endorses Kamala Harris for President, Mocking Trump
Pop star Taylor Swift has officially thrown her weight behind Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, CBS News reports.
In an Instagram post, Swift announced she will be voting for Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, highlighting Harris’s “steady-handed, gifted leadership” and her commitment to “fighting for the rights and causes” Swift believes in.
Swift specifically praised Harris’s choice of Walz as her running mate.
The post also appeared to take a swipe at the Republican ticket, with Swift signing off as “Childless Cat Lady” – a phrase used by Republican candidate JD Vance in a 2021 interview, for which he later apologized.
Swift’s decision to publicly endorse Harris comes after she was targeted by a recent wave of AI-generated images falsely claiming her support for former President Donald Trump. She explained that this incident led her to “be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter.”
The singer urged her fans to conduct their own research and make their own decisions.
Swift’s endorsement has ignited a wave of excitement within the Democratic camp, particularly among her massive fan base. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Harris’s running mate, responded with gratitude, urging Swift’s fans to “get on over there, give us a hand, get things going.”
