Trump, Harris Spar Over Middle East Conflict in ABC Debate
The ABC News-hosted US presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris took a heated turn when the topic shifted to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Harris, outlining a call for immediate cessation of hostilities, said that the only path forward was a ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages. She pledged to work tirelessly on the deal, adding that her administration also set a course for a two-state solution, which will address the security for both Israel and the Palestinians.
Harris also assured that she would always support Israel’s right to defend itself, particularly against Iran and its proxies.
When asked about his strategy to end the war in Gaza and secure the release of hostages, Trump asserted that both the Gaza conflict and the war in Ukraine wouldn’t have occurred if he were president. He also launched a scathing attack on Harris.
“She hates Israel… She wouldn’t even meet with (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu when he went to Congress to make a very important speech. At the same time in her own way, she hates the Arab population… the whole place is going to get blown up: Arabs, Jewish people, Israel. Israel will be gone,” he said.
Trump also stated that Israel would be destroyed under Harris’s presidency within two years.
