A ninth Banksy artwork, depicting a gorilla lifting a shutter to release a number of animals, has appeared on the shutters of the London Zoo. This latest piece is the final installment in a recent series of animal-themed works that have popped up across the UK capital, confirming Banksy’s team to BBC News, as per CBS News.
Banksy images of animals have been discovered each morning since August 5, showing elephants, monkeys, a goat, a wolf and pelicans and other creatures.
The final artwork was posted on Banksy’s social media page on Tuesday morning with no caption.
Overnight, the London Zoo posted an image of the artwork with the caption: “Is the (big) cat out of the bag? Have our animals been helping make people smile all over London this week?”
Over the past few days, Banksy has been leaving his mark on London, with his artwork popping up in unexpected locations. From the walls of fish and chip shops to public transportation bridges, the elusive artist has been adding a touch of his signature street art to the city.
One particularly bold piece, depicting a wolf and painted on a satellite dish, was seemingly stolen almost immediately after its reveal. The works have been documented daily on Banksy’s social media account, appearing around the same time, without any accompanying captions.
