The US women’s 4x100m relay team secured a dramatic victory in their semi-final, setting themselves up for a strong showing in the final, AhramOnline reports, citing AFP.
Melissa Jefferson led off the race, handing the baton to Twanisha Terry, who then passed it to Jenna Prandini. While the handover to anchor leg runner Sha’Carri Richardson wasn’t flawless, Richardson powered past Rebekka Haase to secure a win in 42.15 seconds.
Meanwhile, the USA men’s 4x100m relay team, anchored by Noah Lyles, also advanced to the final after a dominant victory in their semi-final. Lyles, the reigning 100m world champion, remains on track to achieve a sprint triple crown, a feat last accomplished by Usain Bolt in 2016.
The women’s 4x100m final is scheduled for Friday at 17:30 GMT, while the men’s final is set for 15 minutes later.
