Hungarian Foreign Minister Warns Israel of Iran’s plans to begin offensive
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó delivers Iran’s intention to attack Israel, The Jerusalem Post reports.
Szijjártó conveyed Tehran’s message to his Israeli counterpart Israel Katz directly.
Foreign Minister Israel Katz said Iran had pledged to fight Israel amid diplomatic efforts to prevent further military action that could lead to a full-scale war between the nations.
In his turn, the Hungarian top diplomat received the information from acting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri, according to the report.
“Iran has informed us that it intends to attack Israel. The world should exact a price from Iran for any aggressive action it carries out,” Katz said.
The tensions are rising following the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last week, for which Israel has not claimed responsibility even though it is widely believed to be behind it.
The US believes the Iranian response could occur within 48 hours. The issue will be discussed at a meeting of US President Joe Biden and his national security team.
