ACCORDING TO THE RUSSIAN DEFENSE MINISTER, “PARTIAL MOBILIZATION” HAS BEEN COMPLETED.
Sergei Shoigu said that out of 3 hundred thousand recruits, 218 thousand still remain in training, while the remaining 82 thousand have already left the country and were sent to the zone of armed conflict.
The “partial mobilization” of 300,000 Russian reserve soldiers who were called up to take part in the battles in Ukraine announced in September has ended, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
During a speech to Russian President Vladimir Putin, which was broadcast on state TV channels, Shoigu also said that there were no plans to continue mobilization yet, and the task was completed, 300,000 people were called up.
The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that most of the recruits (218,000 people) are still in training, and exactly half of the 82,000 who have already been trained have already been sent to their units.
In the future, the recruitment of troops for the campaign in Ukraine, Shoigu said, will be based on the call of professional soldiers and the personal desire of volunteers, and not on the mobilization of a huge number of people in reserve.
The “partial mobilization” was announced by Vladimir Putin due to a number of defeats inflicted on the Russian army and as a result of which the Russians were expelled from the Kharkiv region in the eastern part of Ukraine, and also found themselves under a colossal onslaught in the southern part of the Kherson region.
These actions of the government were negatively received in society and caused a massive outflow of the male part of the military age population. Ready to be called up at any moment, the men left Russia and went to countries that provide an opportunity for Russians to enter them without visas (these are countries such as Georgia, Armenia and Kazakhstan)
In response to the Defense Minister’s speech, the head of state recognized the “unavoidable” rejection of mobilization by people and the problems associated with it, and stated the need to make adjustments to the system of formation and development of the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
