An anti-Trump protest took place at the Wyoming State Capitol on Wednesday, drawing more than 70 attendees despite windy weather, Wyoming News Now reports.
The protestors expressed their concerns over a variety of issues, including what they called anti-democratic actions by the Trump administration and the role of Elon Musk in US government affairs.
Protesters held flags and banners advocating for LGBTQ rights, as well as voicing opposition to the Trump administration’s policies, particularly regarding immigration and deportation. Many expressed their belief that Musk, a private citizen, should not have influence over federal matters, with some calling his actions unconstitutional and illegal. One protestor commented:
“Elon Musk has no authority to do what he’s doing… it makes America look terrible.”
In addition to their opposition to the administration’s policies, many voiced concerns about what they see as a constitutional crisis. One protestor referred to the situation as “an attack on our democracy,” while others expressed frustration with Musk’s involvement in US government agencies.
This protest was part of a larger movement, with similar demonstrations planned at all 50 state capitols across the country.
