The Wyoming House of Representatives approved two voter ID bills on Monday as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen election integrity in the state.
House Bill 206, which requires photo identification for all forms of voter ID, passed its third reading with a 49-8 vote. Additionally, House Bill 160, which removes student IDs from the list of acceptable identification for voting, passed with a 53-8 vote.
Secretary of State Chuck Gray, who has made election integrity a key component of his reform agenda, testified in support of both bills. Following the votes, he released a statement commending the House for advancing the legislation.
“I applaud the House’s passage of House Bill 206 and House Bill 160, strengthening Wyoming’s voter ID law, the third key priority of our election integrity agenda,” Gray said. “Requiring true photo ID for voter ID in Wyoming is essential, and the passage of these bills advances this key policy priority.”
The measures now move to the Wyoming Senate for consideration. The Secretary of State’s office has emphasized that these bills are part of broader efforts to enhance voter verification and ensure the integrity of the state’s elections.
