Indigo Exploration Inc. has announced the completion of 48 out of a planned 50 drill holes in the Phase 1 exploration program at its 100%-owned uranium project in Wyoming’s historic Shirley Basin, Junior Mining Network reports.

This project, known as the “Hot Property,” spans 5.75 square kilometers (2.2 square miles) and lies adjacent to established uranium projects, including Uranium Energy Corp.’s Shirley Basin project, Ur-Energy Inc.’s Shirley Basin mine, and Nuclear Fuels Inc.’s Bobcat Uranium Project.

The Shirley Basin has a rich history of uranium exploration, with over 200 holes drilled between 1957 and 1975. Indigo’s current drilling campaign focuses on the southern portion of the property, targeting areas with favorable historic intercepts found within 53 meters (175 feet) from the surface. New, unexplored zones were also included in this systematic exploration effort.

The drill holes, spaced approximately 160 meters (525 feet) apart, aim to assess the thickness and grade of uranium mineralization through downhole gamma-ray geophysical logging. The data collected will support the development of a stratigraphic framework to model the continuity and configuration of near-surface uranium roll fronts, potentially comprising multiple layers of mineralization.

Results from the Phase 1 drill program are pending.

The project is located near Ur-Energy’s Shirley Basin project, which hosts a measured and indicated resource of 8.8 million pounds of U₃O₈ at an average grade of 0.23%.

Indigo Exploration President and CEO Paul Cowley emphasized the significance of this project and its potential role in bolstering the region’s uranium output.

The technical content of the release has been reviewed and approved by Bradley Parkes, P.Geo., VP Exploration and Director of Indigo Exploration Inc., in compliance with National Instrument 43-101 standards.
