The Wyoming Cowboys struggled offensively in a 96-55 defeat to Boise State on Tuesday night at ExtraMile Arena in Boise, Idaho, University of Wyoming Athletics reports.
The Broncos, buoyed by hot shooting, dominated the game, hitting 58.5% from the field, including 13 three-pointers. Wyoming, meanwhile, managed just 35.4% shooting and five three-point makes.
Boise State’s potent first-half performance, scoring 50 points, set the tone.
“Hats off to Boise State—they shot the cover off the ball tonight,” said Wyoming head coach Sundance Wicks. “Saturday’s game is a must-win for us. We can’t sneak up on teams anymore when you have a reputation for being a sneaky team.”
Key Performers for Wyoming
- Obi Agbim: Led the Cowboys with 16 points, continuing his streak of scoring in double figures in every game he has played this season.
- Dontaie Allen: Contributed 11 points, marking his third consecutive game in double figures.
- Scottie Ebube and Oleg Kojenets: Each grabbed four rebounds to lead Wyoming on the boards.
Wyoming’s cold start allowed Boise State to seize early control. After Agbim opened the game with a three-pointer, the Broncos responded with a 7-0 run. Boise State later extended their lead with an 11-0 run, building an 18-5 advantage. Despite occasional scoring bursts from the Cowboys, Boise State continued to pull away, taking a commanding 50-21 lead into halftime.
The second half mirrored the first, as Boise State maintained their offensive efficiency, shooting 67% from three-point range at one point. Wyoming struggled to match the pace, with Kojenets providing a brief spark off the bench, scoring four quick points. However, the Broncos’ balanced attack, featuring five players in double figures, ensured the outcome was never in doubt.
