The University of Wyoming Cowboys delivered an impressive performance on Thursday night, securing a dominant 92-55 victory over Bellarmine at the Arena-Auditorium.
Wyoming shot a season-high 65.5 percent from the field and made 14 three-pointers, marking their best offensive output of the season. The win extended the Cowboys’ perfect home record to 5-0.
Wyoming’s shooting was exceptional throughout the game, particularly in the first half. The Cowboys made 75.9 percent of their shots, their best half since December 2013. Their strong performance on both ends of the floor allowed them to take a commanding 52-28 lead into halftime.
Head coach Sundance Wicks praised his team’s approach, emphasizing the focus and determination they displayed throughout the game.
“Tonight, we saw good process and good results,” Wicks said. “The mentality was right, and the guys came out with an edge.”
Obi Agbim led the charge for the Cowboys, finishing with a career-high 28 points, including eight three-pointers. A.J. Wills contributed 13 points and a career-high seven assists, while Matija Belic added 12 points in his first start of the season. Wyoming’s strong team effort included contributions from Cole Henry and Touko Tainamo, who each scored 11 points.
Bellarmine struggled offensively, shooting just 38.8 percent from the field and 23.8 percent from three-point range. Kenyan Goodin was the Knights’ top scorer with 13 points, but the team couldn’t keep up with Wyoming’s efficient shooting and strong defense. The Cowboys also dominated on the boards, outrebounding Bellarmine 34-17.
Wyoming’s fast start set the tone for the game. After taking an early 6-2 lead, the Cowboys went on a 13-0 run and built a 19-point advantage midway through the first half. They pushed their lead to as much as 25 points before halftime, with Agbim contributing several key three-pointers.
In the second half, Wyoming continued to build on their lead, reaching a 40-point advantage late in the game. Despite a brief scoring run by Bellarmine, the Cowboys closed out the contest with a final score of 92-55.
