Wyoming Cowgirls Kayla Mazzocca, Kasia Partyka, and Paige Lauterwasser recognized for academic and athletic excellence, Casper Star Tribune reports.

Three standout members of the University of Wyoming volleyball team have been named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators’ (CSC) Academic All-District Volleyball Team. Seniors Kayla Mazzocca and Kasia Partyka, along with sophomore Paige Lauterwasser, earned the honor for their strong performances both on the court and in the classroom.

To qualify for the CSC Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA and appear in at least 90% of their team’s matches during the season. The recognition highlights the players’ ability to balance high academic achievement with their demanding athletic schedules.

This marks Partyka’s second consecutive appearance on the prestigious list, having also earned the honor in 2023.

Kasia Partyka
A senior setter from Poland, Partyka capped off her collegiate career as one of Wyoming’s all-time greats. She ranked third in the Mountain West Conference in assists per set this season with an average of 9.8. Over her career, Partyka totaled 3,678 assists, placing her fourth on Wyoming’s all-time career assists list.

Her leadership on the court was instrumental in the team’s offensive production, and her back-to-back Academic All-District selections reflect her dedication both as an athlete and a student.

Kayla Mazzocca
Mazzocca was a consistent force for the Cowgirls throughout the 2024 season, appearing in all 122 sets. As a senior middle blocker, she showcased her versatility by ranking fourth on the team in kills with 214 while maintaining an impressive .292 hitting percentage. On defense, she was a key contributor at the net, finishing fifth in the Mountain West with 1.14 blocks per set.

Her reliability and steady play helped anchor the Cowgirls’ front line, and her recognition on the Academic All-District Team is a testament to her hard work on and off the court.

Paige Lauterwasser
As just a sophomore, Lauterwasser has already established herself as one of the top offensive threats in the Mountain West. She ranked in the top 10 in the conference in two key categories: kills per set (3.31) and points per set (3.65). Her contributions made her a crucial part of Wyoming’s offensive strategy.

This is Lauterwasser’s first time receiving Academic All-District honors, but with two more years of eligibility, she may have more accolades in her future. Her ability to balance her academic responsibilities with her rise as a conference leader speaks to her work ethic and determination.

The CSC Academic All-District Team is one of the most respected honors in college sports, recognizing student-athletes who excel in both the classroom and in competition. Maintaining a 3.5 GPA while playing a full season of collegiate volleyball requires discipline, time management, and perseverance — qualities exemplified by Mazzocca, Partyka, and Lauterwasser.
