An Israeli airstrike on a Palestinian Civil Defence post in Nuseirat refugee camp, central Gaza, has killed at least six Palestinians, including Al Jazeera cameraman Ahmed Al-Louh, the news outlet reports, citing medics and journalists.

The attack, which occurred Sunday, is the latest in a series of deadly Israeli military strikes across the Gaza Strip that have killed at least 28 Palestinians on the same day. Al-Louh is the third journalist confirmed dead in Gaza within the last 24 hours.

Al Jazeera Arabic reported that Al-Louh was working at the time of the strike, wearing a clearly visible press vest and helmet. He was transported to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah. Al Jazeera Media Network strongly condemned the killing, calling for international human rights and media organizations to denounce what it termed the “systematic killing of journalists in cold blood” and demanding that perpetrators be brought to justice. The network also urged international legal institutions to hold Israeli authorities accountable.

Al-Louh had reportedly been covering the ongoing conflict since its beginning in October 2023, working closely with Palestinian Civil Defence teams.

The Israeli military has stated it is investigating the incident. According to Khoudary, several other Palestinian journalists have been killed this week, bringing the total number of journalists killed in Gaza since the start of the conflict in October to 195. Earlier on Sunday, Al Jazeera reported the death of another journalist, Mohammed Jabr al-Qrinawi, his wife, and children in an Israeli airstrike targeting their home in Bureij refugee camp.

Further casualties were reported in several other locations across Gaza. Residents described multiple airstrikes in Gaza City that killed at least 11 people. Additional deaths were reported in Beit Lahiya, Beit Hanoon, Jabalia camp, and Rafah. An Israeli raid on Khalil Oweida School in Beit Hanoon reportedly killed at least 15 Palestinians. Other strikes targeted areas near Kamal Adwan Hospital and Shujayea.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reported a staggering death toll of at least 44,976 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces since October 7, 2023.
