The Cheyenne Police Department (CPD) recently announced the successful arrest of Timothy Burney, a fugitive wanted on charges of strangulation and aggravated assault, Cap City News reports.

According to a CPD social media post, a felony arrest warrant was issued for Burney on November 11, following allegations of the serious charges in the First Judicial District of Cheyenne, Wyoming. The case was subsequently taken up by the Wyoming Fugitive Task Force (WFTF) on December 6.

The WFTF, which includes members from various agencies such as the US Marshals Service, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, the Cheyenne Police Department, the Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Wyoming Highway Patrol, initiated a search for Burney.

On December 6, investigators located Burney driving a vehicle in the area of East Pershing Avenue and Henderson Drive in Cheyenne. Authorities conducted a high-risk felony stop on the vehicle, and Burney complied with instructions to exit the vehicle. He was safely taken into custody without incident.

Following the arrest, investigators searched the vehicle and discovered narcotics and a loaded firearm. Burney is currently in custody, facing the charges outlined in the felony arrest warrant.
