The Wyoming Cowboys (5-3, 0-1 MWC) are set to face off against the South Dakota Coyotes (7-4) on Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. EST, following a challenging start to their Mountain West Conference campaign.
South Dakota is coming off a tough 95-82 loss to the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks, despite a standout 22-point performance from Isaac Bruns. The Coyotes, however, have been strong at home, maintaining an undefeated 6-0 record in Vermillion this season. South Dakota’s offense has been potent, averaging 87.3 points per game, outscoring opponents by 8.8 points on average.
On the other hand, the Cowboys are looking to improve their performance on the road, as they have struggled with a 0-2 record away from home so far this season. Wyoming’s offense is efficient, shooting 45.5% from the field, which surpasses the 44.4% average of opponents faced by South Dakota. However, the Coyotes have been strong from beyond the arc, averaging 9.0 made three-pointers per game—2.5 more than Wyoming allows, which could pose a significant challenge for the Cowboys’ defense.
Obi Agbim, who leads Wyoming with an average of 18.1 points and 3.9 assists per game, will be key in keeping the Cowboys competitive in this high-scoring matchup. Despite South Dakota’s offensive prowess, Wyoming’s solid shooting and ability to limit opponents’ efficiency could give them the edge as they look to bounce back from their conference-opening loss.
