Wyoming Cowboys wide receiver TK King has announced his decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal when the window opens on December 9, 7220 Sports reports.
The Houston native joins defensive tackle Jaden Williams and edge rusher Braden Siders as the latest players to publicly confirm their intention to leave the program.
King, who spent just one season at Wyoming after transferring from Texas Tech, made an impact both as a receiver and a special teams standout. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound sophomore recorded 17 receptions for 236 yards during the season, with his most productive games featuring 52 yards each. On the ground, King also contributed with 13 carries for 100 yards and two touchdowns, including a 54-yard score against Utah State.
On special teams, King excelled as a kick returner, racking up 422 yards on 15 attempts and scoring a 100-yard touchdown against North Texas. His 28.1-yard average placed him fourth nationally in kick return efficiency.
King’s departure follows a challenging transition to life in Wyoming, which he described as isolating in a September interview.
“I really just stay to myself… There’s not really nothing to do out here, so I’ll be at home. I just focus on football and school,” he said at the time.
King’s football journey has been marked by his speed and athleticism. A three-star recruit out of Houston, he was ranked among the top 100 receivers in the nation and the No. 61 overall player in Texas by ESPN. While at Texas Tech, King played sparingly, logging just one reception in two seasons before transferring to Wyoming.
As King seeks a new home, Wyoming’s receiving corps is expected to remain competitive. Freshman Chris Durr Jr., leading receiver Jaylen Sargent, and Justin Stevenson are slated to return, while newcomer Deion DeBlanc, an early enrollee, is anticipated to make an immediate impact.
Head coach Jay Sawvel acknowledged the ongoing roster adjustments but did not directly address King’s exit.
“The minute that Deion DeBlanc committed, you know, that gave me some clarity on some other things that I wanted to do with the roster… We’re in good shape,” Sawvel said.
