Wyoming Cowboys wide receiver Tyler King has announced his decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal, marking a significant departure after being the team’s lone All-Mountain West First Team selection this season, County 17 reports.
King, a sophomore who transferred to Wyoming from Texas Tech, made the announcement earlier today on X, formerly known as Twitter.
During his single season in Laramie, King recorded 236 receiving yards, averaging 13.9 yards per catch. He also contributed in the rushing game with 100 yards on 13 carries, including a standout 54-yard run, and scored two rushing touchdowns. However, it was King’s kick return abilities that set him apart, earning him Mountain West honors and making him a bright spot in an otherwise challenging season for the Cowboys.
King is now the second Cowboy to enter the transfer portal this week, following defensive tackle Jaden Williams, who announced his departure on Instagram.
The university has already announced 20 new commitments for the 2024 recruiting class, signaling a fresh start as the Cowboys prepare for the upcoming season.
