DeMarvion Overshown’s spectacular pick-six and Rico Dowdle’s first career 100-yard rushing game propelled the Dallas Cowboys to a 27-20 Thanksgiving Day victory over the New York Giants, The Associated Press reports.

The win snapped a six-game home losing streak for Dallas and provided a much-needed boost as they navigate the season without injured starting quarterback Dak Prescott.

Overshown’s 23-yard interception return for a touchdown gave the Cowboys the lead for good, showcasing his athleticism and opportunistic play. He also recovered a Drew Lock fumble, setting up a Cooper Rush touchdown pass to Brandin Cooks.  Dowdle finished with 112 rushing yards and a touchdown, providing a crucial ground game for the Dallas offense.

Rush, filling in for the injured Prescott, completed a solid performance, going 2-2 as the starter this season, and contributing to the win. Cooks, returning from a knee infection, made a crucial diving catch in the final minutes to seal the victory.

The Giants, meanwhile, suffered their seventh consecutive loss and were eliminated from playoff contention.  Drew Lock, starting in place of the injured Tommy DeVito, showed flashes of mobility with 57 rushing yards and a late touchdown, but was also sacked six times.  Lock’s performance was overshadowed by several turnovers, including the crucial fumble following Overshown’s interception. The Giants’ first lead since Week 5 proved short-lived thanks to the Cowboys’ defensive prowess.

The game saw several injuries on both sides.  Giants defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence dislocated his elbow, while D.J. Davidson suffered a shoulder injury. For the Cowboys, special teamer Juanyeh Thomas was carted off with a knee injury, cornerback Josh Butler also exited with a knee injury, and rookie offensive tackle Tyler Guyton suffered a high ankle sprain.

Despite the win, the Cowboys (5-7) face a steep climb to reach the playoffs.  Their victory marks consecutive wins after a five-game losing streak, but a significant amount of work remains to secure a postseason berth.
