The Wyoming Energy Authority (WEA) is inviting public feedback on its proposed Home Energy Savings Program, designed to assist low- and middle-income residents in improving the energy efficiency of their homes, Sheridan Media reports.
A public input session will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. MT, with both in-person and online participation options available.
The program, which will allocate more than $69 million in federal funds, aims to provide rebates for eligible residents to make energy-saving upgrades such as improving insulation or installing more efficient electric appliances. WEA hopes to gather input from Wyoming residents to help shape the program and ensure it meets community needs.
The public is encouraged to share their thoughts on several key aspects of the program, including:
- What factors would encourage participation in the program?
- What barriers might prevent residents from applying for the energy savings rebates?
- The most effective ways to share information about the program with the community (e.g., through websites, mailings, TV ads, or in-person meetings).
- Strategies to engage residential contractors, such as HVAC technicians, electricians, and energy auditors, in completing the work funded by the program.
- Any concerns about the program’s design or implementation.
The session will be held both in-person at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne and online, allowing people to join virtually or dial in. Participants wishing to provide feedback must register in advance, and each speaker will be allotted two minutes for comments.
In addition to attending the session, residents can submit written comments until December 13, 2024. Comments may be submitted via email, mail, or through a form provided on the WEA website. The feedback will be used to refine the program and ensure its success in helping Wyoming residents reduce their energy costs.
