The University of Wyoming wrestling team has garnered significant national attention this season, with the Cowboys now ranked as high as No. 21 in InterMat’s team tournament rankings and No. 24 in the dual rankings by both InterMat and Open Mat, WyoToday.com reports.

This marks a strong start for Wyoming, with seven individual wrestlers securing national rankings across multiple weight classes.

Jore Volk (125 lbs) has been the standout performer for the Cowboys, maintaining an undefeated 2-0 record and securing the No. 2 spot across three major polls: InterMat, Flo Wrestling, and WIN. Volk will represent Wyoming on a national stage at the NWCA All-Star Classic on Saturday in State College, Pennsylvania, competing in an elite matchup.

The team has seen several other wrestlers climb in the rankings following their strong early-season performances. Joey Novak (197 lbs), who is also 2-0 and has won both matches by pins, is ranked as high as No. 10 in Flo Wrestling. Jared Hill (157 lbs) is undefeated as well and currently sits at No. 23 in InterMat’s rankings. Gabe Willochell (149 lbs), with a 1-1 record, ranks at No. 17 in Open Mat’s poll.

Additional ranked Cowboys include heavyweight Sam Mitchell, who, despite not yet competing this season, holds the No. 24 spot in InterMat’s rankings. Cole Brooks (141 lbs) has risen to No. 28 in InterMat after a strong 2-0 start, and Cooper Voorhees (165 lbs) recently broke into the rankings, sitting at No. 31 in Flo Wrestling.
