Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s Grant $250K to Support Mule Deer Foundation’s Conservation Efforts
A $250,000 grant from the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund has enabled the Mule Deer Foundation to launch extensive wildlife conservation projects aimed at improving habitat connectivity and supporting grassland species across the Great Plains, K2 Radio reports.
According to a recent press release from the Mule Deer Foundation, this grant has also helped secure an additional $1.4 million from various partners and internal sources, further expanding the reach of these vital projects.
The funding supports dozens of habitat improvement initiatives on working lands and ranches throughout the region, enhancing thousands of acres for wildlife. The projects focus on restoring and managing grassland ecosystems, promoting biodiversity, and eliminating obstacles to wildlife movement.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund for their generous support… We look forward to continuing our collaboration on these and future projects,” the foundation said in a statement.
The conservation efforts span several Great Plains states, including eastern Wyoming, South Dakota, Montana, eastern Colorado, North Dakota, western Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. By improving the habitat in these areas, the projects benefit not only mule deer populations but also other grassland-dependent species like sage grouse, upland birds, and waterfowl.
