Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, made a memorable appearance at former President Donald Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, rallying support for the 2024 Trump campaign.
Musk took the stage in a black MAGA cap with a gothic-styled font and matching dark attire, embodying what he referred to as a “dark gothic MAGA” look.
Addressing the crowd, Musk emphasized the importance of early voting, referencing his concerns about electoral integrity.
“What is the scorecard? Vote early. Vote now. Make the margin of victory so big that you know what can’t happen,” he stated.
“We’re going to get the government off your back and out of your pocketbook. America is going to reach heights that it has never seen before,” Musk encouraged the audience.
Musk’s appearance with Trump signals an endorsement of the former president’s approach to government spending and efficiency, key elements Musk highlighted during his speech. Introduced by Cantor Fitzgerald CEO Howard Lutnick as “the greatest capitalist in the history of the United States,” Musk expressed enthusiasm for potentially cutting back on government spending.
“I think we can do at least $2 trillion,” Musk said.
He referenced to possible budget cuts, which he said would help alleviate taxpayer burdens and reduce inflation. Musk’s idea of a “Department of Government Efficiency” underscores his vision of a streamlined government with minimized tax spending, aligning closely with Trump’s proposed commission on government efficiency, which Trump has suggested Musk could lead if he returns to office.
Musk and Trump have hinted at further collaboration, with Musk having expressed interest in a cabinet role focused on optimizing government expenditures. While Musk did not elaborate on specific policy changes or programs he would target, his remarks indicated a commitment to prioritizing fiscal responsibility in Washington.
