Brady Mitchell, a 33-year-old transient man, has been sentenced to 21 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to drug possession and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The incident leading to his arrest occurred on April 13, when Cheyenne police officers approached Mitchell, who was asleep in his van at a gas station parking lot. During questioning, officers noticed a hatchet under his seat and detected the smell of marijuana.
Upon further investigation, officers found a .22 revolver on Mitchell, along with approximately 12 ounces of marijuana, 3.31 grams of Xanax, 3.75 grams of fentanyl, and 1.13 grams of methamphetamine.
Mitchell, a convicted felon, is legally prohibited from owning a firearm. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Cheyenne Police Department’s community action team.
