Wyoming Game and Fish Department Opens Annual Wildlife Photo Contest for Submissions
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has announced the opening of its annual wildlife photo contest, inviting photographers of all ages and skill levels to showcase their work for publication in Wyoming Wildlife magazine, Sheridan Media reports.
Submissions are now being accepted, with entries due by midnight on November 11. Contest rules and submission guidelines can be found on the contest entry page. Winning photographs will be featured in the February 2025 issue of the magazine.
The contest offers a grand prize of $600 to the best overall photo, generously donated by this year’s sponsor, The Wyldlife Fund. In addition to the grand prize, awards will be given for first, second, and third place, along with honorable mentions in four categories:
- Wildlife: Featuring wild mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and arthropods, with priority given to species managed by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
- Scenic: Highlighting landmarks, scenery, or prominent inanimate objects.
- Recreation: Capturing people enjoying outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, hiking, and backpacking, with a focus on activities that align with the Game and Fish’s mission of conserving wildlife and serving people.
- Flora: Showcasing wildflowers, foliage, fruiting bodies, and other plant parts.
“The photo contest provides a great opportunity for photographers of all skill levels to submit their work to Wyoming Wildlife magazine… Each year, the judges are blown away by the phenomenal photos captured from all over the state,” said Editor Tracie Binkerd.
Contestants can submit up to 10 photos across the four categories. All photographs must be taken in Wyoming and should not have been previously published or taken on assignment for Wyoming Wildlife.
