Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance, running alongside former President Donald Trump, has reiterated his support for Trump’s claims about the 2020 election, Al Jazeera reports.

During a question-and-answer session with reporters in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Vance was pressed on his stance regarding the 2020 election results. He said that the outcome is clear to him, echoing Trump’s persistent claims of widespread voter fraud – claims that have been repeatedly debunked by numerous investigations.

Despite certain investigations finding no evidence of widespread fraud, Trump continues to sow doubt about the legitimacy of the 2020 election. He has also indicated potential unwillingness to accept the results of this year’s election.

Vance, while hesitant to contradict Trump’s false claims, chose to focus on the potential consequences of a Harris victory in November. He said that he is less concerned about 2020 and more focused on the potential impact of a Harris presidency on the rising cost of living that many voters are struggling with.

This stance aligns with Trump’s strategy of maintaining his narrative around the 2020 election, even as it continues to be contested by evidence and experts. It remains unclear whether Vance’s unwillingness to acknowledge the legitimate outcome of the 2020 election will resonate with independent voters, particularly in critical battleground states like Pennsylvania.
