Boris Johnson Interview Cancelled After BBC Briefing Notes Leak

Boris Johnson’s highly anticipated interview on the BBC’s Sunday Politics show has been cancelled after presenter Laura Kuenssberg accidentally sent him her briefing notes, Sky News reports.

Kuenssberg admitted the embarrassing error on X, saying that she had been preparing for Thursday’s interview with Johnson.

“By mistake I sent our briefing notes to him in a message meant for my team,” she wrote. “There’s no point pretending it’s anything other than embarrassing and disappointing.”

The interview, which was scheduled to be broadcast on BBC One on Thursday, has been replaced by an episode of EastEnders. Garden Rescue, which was originally set to air as a repeat on Friday, will now fill the slot previously reserved for the interview.

Kuenssberg expressed frustration at the situation, noting that “there are plenty of important questions to be asked,” but admitted that, “honesty is the best policy.”

The interview was to be part of a media round for Johnson to promote his upcoming book, “Unleashed,” due out on October 10. In excerpts released prior to the planned interview, Johnson accused current Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of effectively “assassinating” his political career, drawing parallels to Brutus’ betrayal of Julius Caesar.
