Several metro stations in Brussels were temporarily closed Wednesday following a shooting incident at the central Clemenceau station, according to the Belgian prosecutor’s office, Reuters reports.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the shooting.
Authorities are currently searching for two suspects who fled into the metro tunnels following the incident, a source close to the investigation confirmed.
While official details remain limited, sources speaking to local media have suggested the shooting may have been drug-related.
Images circulating on public broadcaster VRT’s website purportedly show two individuals entering the station and opening fire. Reuters was unable to immediately verify the authenticity of these images.
