The Central Wyoming College (CWC) men’s and women’s basketball teams faced tough competition on the road during their recent trip to southeastern Wyoming, taking on Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) and Laramie County Community College (LCCC), WyoToday Media reports.

Despite renewed efforts and standout individual performances, both teams struggled to secure wins, extending their respective conference losing streaks.

The Rustlers women’s team (5-17, 0-4) entered the weekend eager to notch their first conference victory but faced a formidable Eastern Wyoming College (9-10, 0-2) lineup. With a fully healthy roster for the first time this season, every CWC player saw minutes on the court. Despite this advantage, CWC faced a challenging game, trailing 55-24 by halftime. Poor shooting, particularly from beyond the arc, plagued the Rustlers as EWC cruised to an 85-54 victory. Laura Ring led CWC in scoring with 10 points.

The next day, the Rustlers headed to Cheyenne for a matchup against LCCC. CWC’s offensive struggles continued, compounded by turnovers that disrupted their rhythm. Down 40-24 at halftime, the Rustlers were unable to recover. Esperanza Vergara led the team with 14 points, but it wasn’t enough to prevent another loss, ending with a 67-48 defeat.

The Rustlers men’s team (5-16, 0-4) also sought to break their losing streak during the southeastern Wyoming road trip. Friday’s game against EWC was a defensive battle early on, with the Lancers narrowly leading 37-31 at halftime. Julian Ormond (16 points), Mohamed Mahadhi (12 points), and Dominic McLawrence (10 points) provided offensive sparks for CWC. However, turnovers proved costly as EWC capitalized to pull away in the second half, securing a 75-54 win.

The Rustlers rebounded with a stronger performance against LCCC in Cheyenne. Ormond delivered a career-best performance, earning his first double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds. CWC kept the game competitive throughout but fell just short, 74-66, marking their fourth consecutive conference loss.

Both the men’s and women’s teams are looking to regain momentum this week:
