Authorities have confirmed that Shuefaub “Shue” Xiong, a 42-year-old pizza delivery driver from Apple Valley, Minnesota, who went missing on January 14, died by suicide outside a residence in St. Paul on Tuesday.
Xiong disappeared after arriving for his shift at Domino’s in Apple Valley. He was scheduled to deliver four pizzas but never completed the deliveries or returned to work or home. Police issued an alert, and his family organized search parties to locate him.
On January 18, Xiong’s car was found in Superior, Wisconsin. Over the weekend, he was reportedly seen near his vehicle and later met with an acquaintance in Roseville, Minnesota. Authorities expressed concerns that he might be experiencing a mental health crisis.
On Tuesday afternoon, police responded to a 911 call from Xiong’s family, who reported he was in crisis at a residence on Rice Street in St. Paul. According to police, Xiong had threatened to harm himself and had access to firearms.
Officers arrived and instructed family members to exit the home safely. Despite attempts by family members and law enforcement to persuade him to seek help, Xiong ran out of the residence onto Geranium Avenue West and died by suicide. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
The St. Paul Police Department extended condolences to Xiong’s family, stating:
