Gasoline prices in Wyoming have risen by 3.7 cents per gallon over the past week, bringing the statewide average to $2.89 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 494 stations, K2 Radio reports.

The increase in Wyoming mirrors a broader national trend, with the average price of gasoline in the US rising by 6.5 cents per gallon to $3.09 per gallon. Over the past month, the national average has risen by 4.5 cents, standing 1.8 cents higher than a year ago.

According to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, the recent price increases are linked to rising oil prices, which reached their highest levels since July. Additional factors include increased demand for heating oil due to cold weather and potential price fluctuations related to federal policy changes.

In Wyoming, gasoline prices vary widely:

  • Lowest price: $2.39 per gallon.
  • Highest price: $3.69 per gallon, a difference of $1.30 per gallon.
  • Natrona County’s lowest price: $2.53 per gallon at the Exxon station on 400 Valley Drive.

Neighboring regions also show mixed trends:

  • Fort Collins: $2.76 per gallon, relatively steady.
  • Ogden: $2.93 per gallon, down 5.9 cents from last week.
  • Billings: $2.87 per gallon, up 12.5 cents.

Wyoming’s current average of $2.89 per gallon is higher than previous years at this time, though not the peak:

  • January 20, 2024: $2.64 per gallon.
  • January 20, 2023: $3.25 per gallon.
  • January 20, 2015: $1.99 per gallon.

The US average has followed a similar pattern, now standing at $3.09 per gallon compared to $3.07 last year and $1.87 in 2016.
