Brands expanding into Connecticut always catch my attention—especially when they come from states far from us, i95 ROCK reports.

I often wonder what factors go into these decisions and what makes Connecticut stand out among the other East Coast states. While Connecticut has a growing food scene, I still see us as relatively small, which raises curiosity about the numbers behind such expansions. However, that’s a conversation for another time.

I recently discovered Taco John’s, a Wyoming-based fast food chain that specializes in Mexican-inspired cuisine. According to their website, the brand began in 1969 as a small taco stand in Cheyenne, Wyoming. After gaining popularity in their local community, they expanded and purchased franchise rights, growing to around 370 locations across 22 states. While most of their locations are in the Midwest, Massachusetts is currently the only other East Coast state with a Taco John’s presence. You can view their full list of locations here.

This is set to change, as Taco John’s will soon be opening its first Connecticut location. According to the Connecticut Scoop, the restaurant will be located in Newington, taking over the space previously occupied by Ashley Furniture. The brand appears to still be in the approval process with the town.

For those unfamiliar with Taco John’s, the menu offers a variety of Mexican food favorites. Their offerings include burritos, quesadillas, tacos, taco salads, and more.
