Nottingham Forest continued their improbable Premier League surge, holding Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at the City Ground on Tuesday night, a result that further solidifies their unlikely title ambitions, Al Jazeera reports.

The point comes after a shock victory over the Reds earlier this season, making them the only team to defeat Liverpool in the league this season.

Chris Wood’s early goal in the eighth minute sent Forest into dreamland, putting them on course for a rare home-and-away double against Jurgen Klopp’s men. While Liverpool’s Diogo Jota salvaged a point with a 66th-minute header, the result leaves Forest in second place, just six points behind the Reds, and dreaming of Champions League qualification – and perhaps even more. Forest’s impressive performance comes against the backdrop of a season where they were widely tipped for a relegation battle.

Meanwhile, Manchester City’s struggles deepened as they squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Brentford. Phil Foden’s brace looked to have secured the points for the reigning champions, but Brentford rallied with late goals from Yoane Wissa (82nd minute) and Christian Norgaard (stoppage time). This latest setback leaves City in a disappointing sixth position, highlighting their difficulties in securing a Champions League spot. City’s recent form has been patchy, with a string of poor results, including a late defeat to Manchester United, and a 3-3 draw against Feyenoord in the Champions League where they threw away a 3-goal lead.

Chelsea also experienced frustration, needing a stoppage-time free kick from Reece James to earn a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth. Cole Palmer’s early goal gave Chelsea the lead, but Antoine Semenyo inspired a Bournemouth comeback, winning a penalty converted by Justin Kluivert and adding a goal of his own. Despite the late equalizer, Chelsea’s winless league run extends to five matches, and their hold on fourth place is precarious with Newcastle poised to play on Wednesday.

In other Premier League action, Graham Potter secured his first win as West Ham manager, as the Hammers defeated Fulham 3-2. Carlos Soler and Tomas Soucek gave West Ham a first-half lead before Lucas Paqueta added a crucial third. Fulham’s Alex Iwobi bagged a brace for the Cottagers, but it was not enough to stop West Ham moving ten points clear of the relegation zone, boosting their survival hopes.
