Wyoming Women and Denver Men Split Dual Meet in Laramie

The Wyoming swimming and diving teams hosted Denver in a competitive dual meet Saturday at Laramie High School, with the Cowgirls securing a decisive 182-118 victory while the Cowboys fell short against the Pioneers, 181-119, Swim Swam reports.

The event also honored 18 Wyoming seniors—12 Cowgirls and six Cowboys—who have contributed significantly to the program.

The Wyoming women’s team continued its unbeaten streak, winning 14 events to move to 5-0 in dual meets this season.

Highlights included victories in the 200-medley relay, where Veronika Ozimek, Brynlee Busskohl, Emily Burchett, and Rachael Horne set the pace with a time of 1:43.75. Macey Hansen excelled in distance freestyle, winning the 1,000 free (10:32.27) and the 500 free (5:05.43). Other standout performances came from Tara Joyce in the 200 free (1:52.52) and Busskohl in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.67) and 200 breaststroke (2:19.02).

The Cowgirls also swept the podium in the 100 butterfly, with Kali Franckowiak leading at 57.38, followed by Anna Roesler and Emily Burchett. Wyoming closed the meet with a commanding win in the 400-free relay, clocking in at 3:28.48.

In diving, Alicia Gonzalez won the three-meter event with a score of 324.38, while Natalie Six posted a personal best in the one-meter event with 283.13 points.

The Wyoming men’s team, now 1-2 overall, had several strong performances despite falling to Denver. The Cowboys opened with a win in the 200-medley relay (1:31.73), thanks to Kellen Chadderdon, Andrew Ravegum, Gavin Smith, and Quinn Teller.

Ravegum secured individual victories in the 100 breaststroke (56.20) and the 200 individual medley (1:52.60). Caleb Ozenne also earned a win in the 200 free (1:42.66).

In diving, Bruno Grau achieved a career-best score of 337.88 to win the three-meter event, while Jonah Mann finished second in the one-meter competition.

Denver’s men’s team delivered a strong performance, sweeping several podiums and earning key relay wins. Finn Holdredge led a 1-2-3 finish in the 1,000 free, and Brandon Chapman claimed the 200 fly (1:51.23). In diving, Zyad Morsy captured the one-meter event with an NCAA Zone Standard score of 368.33.

The Denver women’s team faced stiff competition but managed several top-three finishes, including a sweep in the 200 fly led by Mia Moulden (2:05.27). Kaitlin Calvery achieved NCAA Zone Cut scores in both diving events.

Wyoming will compete at the Colorado School of Mines on January 20. Denver’s divers head to the Cal Diving Invite (January 16-18), while their swimmers face Utah on January 19 and BYU on January 20.
