As 2024 comes to a close, Make-A-Wish Wyoming is reflecting on a successful year, having granted 31 wishes to children across the state, Wyoming News Now reports.
CEO Morgan Poloncic shared that this marks another meaningful year for the organization, which has been brightening the lives of children facing serious medical conditions.
“By the end of this month, we’ll have granted 31 Wyoming wishes,” Poloncic said.
He emphasized the positive impact the organization continues to have on the lives of children and families in Wyoming.
While Make-A-Wish is often associated with children who have terminal conditions, Poloncic clarified that the organization grants wishes to children with a broad range of medical conditions. These include conditions like cancer, heart, kidney, and liver diseases, as well as those requiring bone marrow transplants or living with genetic conditions such as Huntington’s Disease and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
“We try to reach every eligible child in the state,” Poloncic noted.
However, the foundation is aware that despite their efforts, some children may still be missed each year.
One of the core goals of Make-A-Wish Wyoming is to offer a sense of hope and joy to children during difficult times.
“We’re able to sit with these families, to sit with these kids and dream. Dream of all the possibilities,” Poloncic explained.
It is this spirit of possibility that drives the organization to grant wishes, whether it’s a trip to a dream destination, meeting a favorite celebrity, or fulfilling any special wish.
In 2024, several cities across Wyoming saw wishes granted, including Casper, where five wishes were granted, and Cheyenne, where six wishes were fulfilled. These wishes, along with others across the state, have had a significant emotional impact on the children and families involved.
2025 will mark a special milestone for Make-A-Wish Wyoming as the organization celebrates its 40th anniversary.
