High school swim teams compete in duals, quads, and invitationals across the state, WyoPreps reports.

The second week of the Wyoming high school boys’ swimming and diving season featured intense competition at multiple venues across the state. Teams participated in duals, quads, triangulars, and large invitationals, with events taking place in Cheyenne, Buffalo, Lander, Green River, Casper, and Riverton.

Several 4A and 3A schools faced off, offering early glimpses of team and individual performances ahead of the 2024-25 postseason. Here’s a breakdown of the key events and results from the week.

Tuesday, Dec. 17

East at South (Dual Meet)

  • No team scores were recorded for this dual meet, but individual swimmers had the opportunity to compete in various events.

Thursday, Dec. 19

Buffalo Quad

  • Teams: Buffalo, Campbell County, Sheridan, Thunder Basin
  • This four-team meet in Buffalo brought together competitive squads from across the region, allowing swimmers to test their early-season form.

Friday, Dec. 20

Lander Triangular

  • Teams: Cody, Lander, Riverton
  • Three teams squared off in Lander for a day of head-to-head competition, giving swimmers from smaller programs valuable experience against strong regional opponents.

Green River Pre-Invite

  • Teams: Evanston, Green River, Kemmerer, Lyman, Rawlins, Rock Springs, Sublette County
  • This meet served as a prelude to the larger Green River Invitational. Swimmers got a chance to familiarize themselves with the pool ahead of Saturday’s full-scale competition.

NC Pre-Invite (Casper)

  • Teams: Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Douglas, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Natrona County, Sheridan, Thunder Basin
  • Primarily featuring Class 4A teams, the NC Pre-Invite allowed swimmers to get a feel for the competition that lies ahead in postseason meets.

Newcastle at Cheyenne South (Dual Meet)

  • Newcastle and Cheyenne South went head-to-head in this dual, providing opportunities for swimmers from both schools to fine-tune their strokes and race strategies.

Saturday, Dec. 21

Green River Invitational

  • Teams: Evanston, Green River, Jackson, Kemmerer, Lander, Lyman, Rawlins, Rock Springs, Sublette County
  • One of the biggest events of the week, the Green River Invitational brought together 3A and 4A teams for a full day of competition. Teams from across the state traveled to Green River, making it one of the most diverse competitions of the week.

Kelly Walsh Invitational (Casper)

  • Teams: Buffalo, Campbell County, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Douglas, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Natrona County, Newcastle, Sheridan, Thunder Basin
  • As one of the marquee events of the week, the Kelly Walsh Invitational featured a large and talented field of swimmers from 4A and 3A schools. With multiple teams competing, it provided a preview of what fans might see in the postseason.

Riverton Invite

  • Teams: Cody, Powell, Riverton, Worland
  • This smaller, four-team invitational still provided plenty of action. Cody, Powell, Riverton, and Worland used the meet to assess their early-season progress and refine their race strategies.
