Wyoming is gearing up for a fresh look on its roads as the state prepares to roll out new license plates in 2025, KGAB AM 650 reports.
As required by state law, Wyoming issues a new license plate design every eight years, and this upcoming edition will continue the tradition of featuring the iconic Bucking Horse and Rider emblem.
The new plates will showcase a color scheme inspired by the Wyoming state flag, a design crafted by the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) with input from a dedicated committee.
In addition to the standard plate, Wyoming residents will have access to a variety of specialized plate designs. These plates offer unique variations of the main design, but some may come with an additional fee. Vehicle owners who already have a specialized plate will receive a postcard from WYDOT next year with instructions on how to obtain the new version of their plate.
The new plates will be distributed when residents renew their vehicle registrations. While there is no additional charge for the standard plate, those who want to get the new plate early can do so by paying an extra fee and registering their vehicle before its usual renewal date.
With a design inspired by state pride and tradition, opinions on the new license plates are sure to be mixed. Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts by participating in an online poll. Whether you’re a fan of the classic Wyoming color palette or have strong opinions about the look of the Bucking Horse and Rider, this is your chance to weigh in.
As 2025 approaches, drivers can expect to see the new plates gradually replacing the old ones on Wyoming’s highways and byways. Will the fresh design become a point of pride, or will it stir up debate? Let us know what you think!
