The South Side Sluggers boxing club delivered an impressive performance at the Wyoming Silver Gloves tournament held Saturday in Casper, with three of its athletes securing victories by unanimous decision, Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports.
Makayla Eliopoulos led the charge, defeating Casper’s Izabella Ramirez in the intermediate female, 106-pound division. Eliopoulos showcased skill and strategy to claim a clear victory on the judges’ scorecards.
In the bantam male, 101-pound division, Cain Samora also emerged victorious, defeating Alvaro Aleman of Rapid City, South Dakota, by unanimous decision. Samora’s decisive win reflected his precision and control throughout the bout.
Antonio Gonzalez rounded out the trio of wins for the Sluggers with a unanimous decision victory over Casper’s Mark Haney in the junior male, 154-pound division. Gonzalez’s power and technique were on display as he earned the third win of the day for his club.
Not every bout went in the Sluggers’ favor, however. Dontae Zubia Pacheco faced off against Tyson Whiteface of Rapid City in the youth male, 132-pound division but came up short, falling to Whiteface by unanimous decision.
