The US Attorney’s Office for the District of Wyoming recently issued an update on several federal cases, highlighting sentences for crimes ranging from drug trafficking to firearm offenses, Oil City News reports.
Below are the details of the cases and their outcomes:
Injury to US Property
Sherette Joseph Lujan, 48, Riverton, Wyoming
Lujan was sentenced to 12 months in prison and three years of supervised release for causing damage to US property. He was ordered to pay $2,304 in restitution after breaking windows at the Riverton Post Office in June. Lujan, who admitted to using methamphetamine, claimed he was trying to scare off “gangsters” by barricading himself inside. US District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson sentenced him on Nov. 22 in Cheyenne.
Child Pornography
Robert Lynn Harris, 56, Casper, Wyoming
Harris was sentenced to 120 months in prison and 10 years of supervised release for possessing child pornography. Investigators found explicit material on a micro-SD card during a search by US Probation agents. Harris, a convicted sex offender, was sentenced on Nov. 27 by Judge Johnson in Cheyenne.
Drug Trafficking Cases
Kathleen Lindsay, 36, Fort Washakie, Wyoming
Lindsay was sentenced to 96 months in prison for conspiring to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine. Authorities seized large quantities of both drugs during a March traffic stop, including 90 fentanyl pills found concealed on her person. She was sentenced on Nov. 25 by Judge Kelly H. Rankin in Cheyenne.
Kenneth Waters, 34, Cheyenne, Wyoming
Waters received an 87-month prison sentence for possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute. Between May and June, law enforcement made controlled purchases totaling over 15 grams of fentanyl. He was sentenced on Nov. 26 by Judge Rankin.
Kevin Washakie, 34, Fort Washakie, Wyoming
Washakie was sentenced to time served (May to December 2024) for distributing methamphetamine. He was involved in a controlled purchase operation in September and sentenced on Nov. 27 by Chief Judge Scott W. Skavdahl in Casper.
Firearm Offense
Brian Scott Birden, 54, Sheridan, Wyoming
Birden, a convicted felon, was sentenced to 33 months in prison for possessing a firearm. He fired multiple rounds inside a Sheridan home, with law enforcement later finding bullet holes and shell casings. He was sentenced on Nov. 26 by Judge Rankin in Cheyenne.
