Governor Mark Gordon has directed that the Wyoming State Flag be flown at half-staff on Tuesday, December 3, at the Capitol in Cheyenne and throughout Sheridan County to honor the memory of Jerry Iekel.
The tribute will take place from sunrise to sunset.
Iekel, who passed away on November 9, 2024, served as the representative for Sheridan County’s District 29 in the Wyoming House of Representatives from 2001 to 2008. His years in office were marked by dedication to his constituents and commitment to public service.
The governor’s office clarified that the order applies exclusively to the Wyoming State Flag at the Capitol Building and in Sheridan County. All other flags should remain at full-staff during this period.
