Two Wyoming cities, Casper and Cheyenne, have secured spots on WalletHub’s annual list of the “Best Cities for Singles” in 2025, showcasing the state’s improving appeal for single residents.

Casper ranked 48th, while Cheyenne climbed to 68th, marking notable improvements in the dating landscape within the Cowboy State.

WalletHub, a personal finance website, evaluates over 180 US cities annually across 35 indicators of dating friendliness. Metrics include the share of single residents, online dating opportunities, and the cost of typical date activities like dining out. Casper’s ranking dropped slightly from last year’s 46th position, but Cheyenne’s leap by 11 spots reflects a growing recognition of its dating scene.

Interestingly, the rankings have shifted significantly over the years. In 2020, Cheyenne ranked much higher than Casper, illustrating evolving dynamics in Wyoming’s single life.

The study also sheds light on how financial factors influence relationships. According to WalletHub:

  • Frequent dishonesty: Over 25% of people admit to lying about finances regularly.
  • Secrets abound: 58% of Americans keep financial secrets, while 69% believe such secrecy is sometimes necessary.
  • Relationship consequences: 53% of people would consider ending a relationship due to financial problems, and over 10% view financial infidelity as worse than emotional or physical cheating.

These insights suggest that while Wyoming’s dating scene is improving, financial transparency remains a critical factor in relationship success nationwide.

Despite Wyoming’s reputation for a sparse dating pool, the state’s upward trajectory in WalletHub’s rankings suggests that singles may find more opportunities than expected. The results highlight a shift in perception and point to Wyoming’s potential as a viable destination for those seeking love.

WalletHub’s “Best & Worst Cities for Singles” study helps Americans navigate the dating landscape by analyzing cities based on factors like affordability, social opportunities, and dating prospects. With nearly half of US adults unmarried, the study aims to provide insights into the best places to meet potential partners while navigating financial realities.
