Luxury Property Mogul Nick Candy Launches High-End Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine Brand
Nick Candy, the renowned luxury property tycoon behind the prestigious One Hyde Park development, has revealed his foray into the burgeoning non-alcoholic beverage market with Wild Idol, his two-year-old sparkling wine brand, Bloomberg reports.
Candy said that the brand was born from a desire to provide a high-quality, sophisticated alternative for those choosing to abstain from alcohol.
This dedication to quality is evident in every detail, from the premium bottle design to the sourcing of grapes in Germany’s Rheinheissen region. Candy has assembled a team of industry experts, including Paul Beavis, former UK and North America managing director of Champagne Lanson as CEO, and advisors such as Paul Walsh, former CEO of Diageo Plc, and James Blyth, Diageo’s former chairman.
Wild Idol currently offers two varieties: a crisp, apple-noted sparkling white wine (Muller-Thurgau grape) and a rhubarb and vanilla-infused coral-pink rosé (Merlot grape), both retailing at £29.99 ($38). The wine maintains the celebratory experience of traditional sparkling wine, with a distinctive pop upon opening and a lively effervescence.
Launched in the UK in 2022, Wild Idol has already sold approximately 150,000 bottles and secured distribution in the UK and Middle East. The brand boasts impressive placements in high-profile establishments, including Claridge’s, Nobu, the Ivy, the Dorchester in London, and Atlantis the Royal in Dubai. Candy notes the brand’s particular success in the UAE, where its zero-alcohol status is a key differentiator.
With sights set on further expansion, Candy plans to introduce Wild Idol to the United States, beginning in New York and Miami, leveraging existing hotel relationships. He projects production of 250,000 bottles by the end of 2025, aiming for over one million bottles in the long term.
