The Cowgirl 30 Under 30 program continues to highlight the achievements of young women in the western industry, and four women from Wyoming have been selected for the Class of 2025, Wyoming News Now reports.
This prestigious award, which receives hundreds of applications each year, honors women who have shown dedication and leadership in fields ranging from agriculture to education.
Among the honorees is Meredith Halweg, a student at the University of Wyoming and southeast region representative for the Wyoming Board of Agriculture. Halweg expressed excitement about the opportunity to connect with other women across the country who share her passion for the western industry.
“I just think that’s really neat because depending on my career path I choose to go, I can network with all of these women, both those receiving the award in 2025 and those who have been previously recognized,” she said.
Halweg, one of the youngest recipients of the award, encourages others to take chances, noting that trying can lead to unexpected success.
“If you don’t try now, then you never know what you can achieve,” she added.
Another recipient, Katie Shockley, serves as the Agricultural and Equine Pathway Coordinator at Laramie County Community College. Shockley has spent much of her career focused on education and guiding future generations in the agricultural field. She credits her students as a key source of motivation.
“I can’t tell my students to try if I can’t try,” she said.
Shockley emphasized the importance of leading by example. Shockley is proud to be part of a program that empowers young women in the western industry, and she is grateful for the opportunity to be recognized for her contributions.
These four Wyoming women will be honored at a special gala in Arlington, Texas, in April 2025.
