Wyoming’s first Sprouts Farmers Market opens its doors on Friday in Cheyenne, marking the health-focused grocery chain’s debut in the state, Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports.

The new store, located at 5214 Rue Terre in the Kohl’s shopping center, expands Sprouts’ reach to 24 states across the US.

Sprouts Farmers Market sets itself apart from conventional grocery stores by offering products aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles. Shoppers won’t find mainstream items like Pepsi or Doritos but instead will discover a wide variety of organic and health-conscious brands, many of which are locally sourced.

“It’s about bringing a healthier lifestyle and a better choice of groceries and produce to the customer,” said assistant store manager Anthony Stephenson.

He emphasized that Sprouts’ produce and meat are often sourced locally, underscoring the store’s commitment to freshness and sustainability.

Lauren Frank, Sprouts’ public relations manager, highlighted the importance of produce to the brand’s identity.

“Our produce is the heart of our store… Everything is always fresh and seasonal, which really sets us apart,” she said.

In addition to its fresh produce, Sprouts offers a wide range of specialty items, including vegan cookies, gluten-free pasta, alternative milks, and freeze-dried popsicles. A pre-made meal section and deli provide convenient options for customers looking for quick and nutritious meals.

The store also features a “New For You” section that rotates small business vendors and emerging brands every two months. Successful products may become a permanent part of the store’s selection. Frank noted that this initiative has helped launch items like Siete tortilla chips, now sold nationwide.

The Cheyenne Sprouts location will employ around 100 people and plans to donate unsold but consumable produce to the Food Bank of the Rockies, aligning with the company’s sustainability and community support efforts.

Assistant manager Stephenson expressed excitement for the opening.

“I’m excited to get going and nervous all at the same time to see how many people we actually have at the door in the morning… It’s going to be good for the town,” he said.

With over 400 stores nationwide and plans to open more locations by the year’s end, Sprouts continues to expand its footprint, employing approximately 31,000 people.
