Brazil’s First Lady Drops F-Bomb Aimed at Elon Musk Amidst Social Media Feud
Brazil’s first lady, Rosangela da Silva, known as Janja, unleashed a profanity-laced attack on Elon Musk during a Saturday event in Rio de Janeiro, just as her husband, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, prepares to host the high-stakes G20 summit, Bloomberg reports.
Her outburst came during a discussion on the need for social media regulation and combating the spread of misinformation.
“F— you, Elon Musk,” Janja wrote, escalating a long-simmering feud between the Brazilian presidential administration and the X platform owner.
The conflict dates back to earlier this year when Brazil’s Supreme Court temporarily blocked access to X, and intensified last year following an apparent hack of Janja’s account. She accused Musk of failing to adequately address the security breach and threatened legal action against the company.
Musk responded on X to a video of Janja’s outburst with a prediction that Lula’s party would “lose the next election,” referring to the 2026 presidential contest. Lula’s narrow victory over Jair Bolsonaro in the 2022 election highlights the highly polarized political landscape in Brazil.
While a spokesperson for President Lula declined to comment on the first lady’s remarks, the president himself later stated, “We don’t have to offend or curse anyone.”
