University of Wyoming’s head men’s basketball coach Sundance Wicks announced Wednesday the signing of three promising recruits for the 2025-26 season, marking his first recruiting class since taking the helm in May.

The trio, chosen for their grit and passion for Cowboy culture, includes a Laramie native, a dynamic forward from Wisconsin, and a versatile guard from California.

“The overarching theme for this year’s early signing class was to find ‘OKC’s’—Our Kinda Cowboys… OKC’s are young men that WANT to be in Laramie, that WANT to be Cowboys. They are gritty, relentlessly competitive gym rats who understand the reward is the work. There was no doubt these three young men and their families fit our Cowboy Culture and will carry it forward,” Wicks emphasized.

The New Cowboys

Gavin Gores – Forward – 6-10, 210 lbs – Cumberland, Wisc. (Cumberland High School)

Gores, a 6-foot-10 forward out of Wisconsin, brings size, athleticism, and a three-star recruit rating from 247sports.com. He ranks as the 46th power forward in his class and sixth in the state of Wisconsin. Known for his scoring power, Gores shattered Cumberland High School’s all-time scoring record and was an all-state selection as a junior. He boasts notable performances with 51 points and 19 rebounds in one game and 47 points and 18 rebounds in another, along with an All-UA Rise First Team honor this past summer. Gores chose Wyoming over offers from Illinois, Illinois State, and North Dakota State.

Wicks describes Gores as a rare “Unicorn 4,” combining size, skill, and competitiveness.

“Gavin is a winner, and he’s as driven as any player we’ve ever recruited. At 6-10, he can stretch it, rack it, and feel the game in ways most can’t… He will be a matchup nightmare, creating advantages for us in countless ways. There is no ceiling for Gav,” Wicks noted.

Nasir (Naz) Meyer – Guard – 6-7, 185 lbs – Los Angeles, Calif. (New Hampton Prep)

Standing 6-foot-7, Meyer currently hones his skills at New Hampton Prep in New Hampshire. Known for his scoring prowess, Meyer notched 35 points, including seven three-pointers, against Western Reserve at the National Prep Championship. Previously, he starred at Agoura High School in California, where he averaged 19.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. Meyer fielded offers from Marquette and Arizona State before committing to the Cowboys.

Wicks affectionately calls Meyer “Nasty Naz” and lauds his adaptability.

“Naz is a proven winner from one of the top prep programs. He’s a Swiss army knife on the court, a connector who can defend any position and play any offensive role… Fans will love his competitiveness, electric playmaking, and readiness to give everything for his team,” Wicks remarked.

Neil Summers – Forward – 6-9, 240 lbs – Laramie, Wyo. (Laramie High School)

A local talent, Summers is a 6-foot-9 forward with a powerful presence. As a junior, he led Laramie High School to the state title game, averaging 17 points and 11 rebounds per game and ranking fifth in state scoring. Summers also delivered stellar performances in the championship game, scoring 20 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. With back-to-back All-State selections, Summers reunites with former teammate Levi Brown on the Cowboys’ roster.

Wicks is thrilled to add a Wyoming native to the team.

“How lucky are we to have one of our own? Neil will be a secret weapon for the Pokes… With his size and skill, Neil can play inside and outside, connecting our offense and even playing point guard in the post. Get ready, Cowboy Country—it’s going to be Summer(s) all winter!,” he said.
