In recognition of National Apprenticeship Week (NAW), the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is hosting a series of public events from Nov. 18-23 to celebrate the role of Registered Apprenticeships in developing a skilled workforce, Wyoming News Now reports.

NAW provides an opportunity to explore how apprenticeship programs create valuable career pathways through hands-on learning and structured training.

National Apprenticeship Week, a nationwide initiative, unites employers, labor organizations, educational institutions, community groups, and government agencies to promote the impact of apprenticeships on economic growth and workforce development. Throughout the week, Wyoming residents can participate in events to discover training opportunities, connect with local employers, and learn more about career options in various fields.

Event Highlights

  • DWS Virtual Training Series: Apprenticeship 101 & Grants
    • Time: 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19
    • This free virtual session will introduce attendees to the fundamentals of Registered Apprenticeship Programs and available grant opportunities. Hosted by the Wyoming Apprenticeship Team, the session will also include a Q&A segment for additional insights. Registration is required to attend.
  • NAW 2024 Career Fair
    • Time: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20
    • Location: 5221 Yellowstone Road, Cheyenne
    • Open to the public, the Career Fair will feature employers from across Wyoming, including those offering Registered Apprenticeship Programs. Attendees can explore potential careers that integrate hands-on training with a structured wage progression.
  • Student Learner Agreement, Internships, and Apprenticeship 101
    • Time: 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21
    • This session, led by DWS Apprenticeship Team members and DWS Risk Manager Ricardo Lind-Gonzalez, is tailored for high school students. It will cover the Student Learner Agreement, which helps young people access pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs as they start their career journeys. Registration is required.
  • WyApprenticeships.com Website Tour and Q&A Sessions
    • Times: 4 p.m., Monday, Nov. 18, and 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 22
    • Wyoming’s new apprenticeship information hub, WyApprenticeships.com, will be showcased in two virtual tour sessions. Attendees will learn how to navigate the website to find Registered Apprenticeship Programs that align with their personal career goals.

National Apprenticeship Week offers Wyoming residents a valuable opportunity to learn about programs that can lead to meaningful careers. These events are part of a broader effort to strengthen Wyoming’s workforce by fostering partnerships among employers, educational institutions, and community organizations.
