In a remarkable show of generosity, the women at the Wyoming Women’s Center (WWC) raised $1,310 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital over the summer of 2024, Wyoming News Now reports.

The women organized the fundraiser themselves, holding it during the months of July and August as part of their commitment to giving back to the community.

The initiative allowed participants to purchase from a special selection of items from an outside vendor, items not typically available through the facility’s commissary. To support the fundraiser, each participant donated either $15 or $25 based on the size of their purchase order, with all proceeds directed toward St. Jude’s.

This charitable endeavor highlights an important part of the WWC’s rehabilitation approach, which emphasizes the positive impact of constructive community contributions. According to the Wyoming Department of Corrections, such efforts foster a sense of purpose and social responsibility, which are essential in preparing inmates for successful reintegration into society.

“We feel it’s our responsibility to give back,” shared one of the women involved in the initiative.

For many at WWC, this opportunity is not just about raising funds but about demonstrating their dedication to making a difference.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a renowned institution known for its work in treating and researching pediatric cancer and other serious illnesses, relies heavily on donations to provide families with free care. The WWC’s contribution will support St. Jude’s mission to ensure no family pays for treatment.
